Remember that nervously exciting month after high school graduation? The feeling of euphoria that came from accomplishing something you worked toward for twelve very long years, suddenly colliding with the realization that its over. All the friends who just a month ago were all united by school, are now suddenly making plans and chasing dreams of their own. Some you knew about, many you didn’t.
Tonight’s sail captured that disorienting time in a single evening. Scott brought several recently graduated friends for one last sailing trip. None wanted to admit it, but it was possibly the last night they’d all be together as they planned to part ways for college, jobs, missions, and other pursuits.
The weather was kind for this bon voyage. A steady breeze pushed Unsinkable 2 along all evening at a quick enough pace to enjoy the evening, but not so fast that sail needed to be reduced. Enough to let me think about that summer in my own life, the friends I’ve seen again, and the ones I’ve not seen since. I hope voyage has been bon.
